Anime

Anime is a style of animation that originated in Japan and is characterized by colorful artwork, vibrant characters, and fantastical themes. It encompasses a wide range of genres and is produced for various demographics, including children, teenagers, and adults. Anime can be broadcast on television, distributed on home video, or streamed online, and it is often adapted from manga (Japanese comic books) or light novels.

The term “anime” is derived from the English word “animation,” but in Japan, it refers to all forms of animated works, regardless of origin. Outside of Japan, however, it specifically refers to Japanese animation. Anime often includes unique visual styles, such as exaggerated facial expressions and distinctive character designs, and it frequently incorporates elements of Japanese culture, mythology, and social issues.

Anime can be episodic, featured in television series, or presented as full-length films. It has gained international popularity and has a dedicated fan base worldwide, leading to a significant influence on global pop culture. The medium has also spawned numerous conventions, fan art, merchandise, and subcultures centered around various series and characters.
